Tips & Tricks

EYES

SMALL EYES

  • Apply  a creamy white pencil (not waterproof) to the inner rim
  • Curl your lashes before applying mascara or
  • Apply single false lashes to the top outer lash line

LARGE OR PROTRUDING EYES

  • Never use hard edged eyeliner as it brings attention to the roundness of the eye (which we want to soften, not enhance) ; a smudged liner is best
  • Apply dark eyeliner to the rim of the inner rim of the eye to make it appear smaller
  • Keep all dark colours to the outer third corner

BROW TIPS

  • “Work with what you’ve got – not necessarily what you want.  If your brows are ‘straight’ you’re not going to be able to achieve Angelina’s high arched brow.”
  • If you’re not sure how to optimise your shape or create a shape that suits you – get them done by a professional
  • The beginning of your brow should be in line with your outer nostril to the inner corner of your eye (point A) but take into account if your nostrils are wide as this could make your brows too short
  • The peak of your arch is at point 2 – the outer rim of your iris (looking straight ahead)
  • The end of your brow falls at point 3 – the line from your nostril to the outer corner of your eye
  • As we age brow hair becomes quite wiry and course.  Extra long hairs should be trimmed. Trimming is a great way to keep them in check (especially if they’re curly)
  • Match your brow pencil or shadow to your brow hair colour otherwise the difference will look odd (ie. Too obvious)
  • Use a brow gel to keep brow hairs in place (try Youngblood’s Artiste Brow Kit), especially if they’re curly
  • Don’t wax your brows the day of a special event  because the wax removes a light layer of skin making application of foundation and make up to the area too difficult.
