The Guinot Double Ionisation facial uses a galvanic current for desincrastation (deep cleanse and removal of oil and skin blockages) and iontophoreses (introduction of active water-soluble substances into the skin for specific effects).
How does it work?
The current, which flows through the skin, forms a circuit between the active and indifferent electrodes so the active substances pass into the epidermis on a galvanic charge. The active electrode can be either negative or positive. The active substances to be introduced to the skin are either negatively or positively charged
Effects of the galvanic current:
* Increases circulation
* Improves skin colour
* Relaxing as warmth is produced in the tissues
* Soothing as fluid is drawn away and waste products will be moved away from the area relieving tension.
Specific Contraindications to galvanism:
* Lack of skin sensation
* Pregnancy
* Metal pins or plates
* Braces or lots of fillings
Desincrustation:
Deep cleansing treatment especially for congested and oily skin.
Effects include:
* Increased circulation on surface
* Skin is softened
* Pores open
* Sebum in the follicles liquefy
Iontophoresis:
This treatment is used to pass active substances through the skin on a galvanic charge. It allows products to be infused quicker and deeper than manual methods therefore providing a more intensive effect.
